TAUNGGYI
Taunggyi, the capital city of Shan State in the eastern part of Myanmar, is
known for its scenic beauty and pleasant climate. It is cooled the year round,
and the area is colorful with lovely flowers and green orchards. Being
situated 1433 metre (4700 feet) above sea-level, Taunggyi is ideal for
holiday-makers during summer season. A major attraction of Taunggyi is
its market where one can see colourfully dressed hill tribes flocking
there to sell varieties of luscious vegetables. Atop the hill, overlooking the
town is the Su-Taung-Pye pagoda where one can have a panoramic view of the
town the surrounding countryside.
For those visitors interested in regional ethnology, there is the Taunggyi
Museum where indigenous costumes of the nationals of the Shan State are
displayed.

KAKKU
Kakku a hidden treasure, an unusual magnificent
collections of Buddist stupas, unheard of by historians and unlisted in
guide books lies in the deepest Pa-O area south of Taunggyi the capital of
Shan State in Myanmar.
There lies nearly 2500 Buddhists stupas alligned in a parallel rows closely
packed together in ranks covering an area of approximately a square
kilometer - almost unknown to outside world.
According to Myanmar calendar the annual festival of
Kakku usually falls on full-moon of Tabaung arround (Mid-March) of the year.
